sheets to the wind is about an every-so-often newsletter about audio, art, and living on earth.
I’m Justine. I make audio documentaries, mostly about human relationships with nature and climate change, mostly for Outside/In. I’m most interested in exploring living examples of “the commons,” like the grassroots mutual aid networks which emerged in the Black Mountains of North Carolina after Hurricane Helene, this collaborative project to read 2000-year-old papyrus scrolls scorched by Mount Vesuvius, and this effort to save the wild axolotl in the floating gardens of Mexico City.
I’ve also reported on witchcraft, incarceration, fashion and beauty, and the real story behind a notorious gravestone in rural New Hampshire.
I’m an islander, raised on Nantucket, living now in northern New England.
